Independent undergraduate research at Dr. Yun-Pung Paul Hsu's lab,
Department of Life Science. Investigation in association of susceptibility genes,
such as monoamine oxidases (MAO) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) genes,
with Parkinson's Disease in Taiwanese. Alleles of Candidate genes determined
based on restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), dinucleotide repeat
polymorphism (DRP) and single-strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP).
California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, U.S.A. (summer 1995)
Research fellowship at Dr. Kai Zinn's lab, Biology Division. Making
Drosophiladouble mutants of Drosophila Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 69D
(DPTP69D) and other proteins expressed in the nervous system. Examining
their nervous system with immunocytochemistry and microscopy.
