(A) The AP-1 site forms a pseudopalindrome with the central C.G pair being shared by both half-sites (indicated by arrows). (B) The ATF/CREB is almost identical to the AP-1 site, differing by the addition of a G.C pair 3' of the central C.G pair in AP-1. Thus ATF/CREB forms a true palindrome.
