The two main activation domains of c-Jun are indicated by the grey boxes marked A1 and A2. The A1 domain contains the sequence (diagonally striped box) which is missing in v-Jun, as well as the Homology Boxes (HOB) 1 and 2 (solid boxes) which are also found in c-Fos. Conserved HOB residues in c-Jun and c-Fos are marked with an asterisk. Two point mutations found in v-Jun are marked by arrows. Sites of phosphorylation are marked with a circled P. The C-terminal transrepression domain of c-Fos is indicated by the dark grey box. The c-Jun and c-Fos DNA-binding domains are located in the boxes marked b while the dimerisation elements are in the adjacent boxes labelled ZIP.
