Cold-Shock Proteins(CSPs)

* Cold-shock proteins have been implicated in various cellular processes, including adaptation to low temperatures, cellular growth and nutrient stress.

* Not all CSPs are induced by cold shock, however; some are involved in other cellular processes. On the nine CSPs present in E. coli , only three(CspA, CspB and CspG) are cold inducible. CspD is induced at the onset of stationary phase and during stavation.

* The discovery of the "cold-shock domain(CSD)", that shows strikingly high homology, and similar RNA-binding properties.

* Function as RNA-chaperones in bacteria!
